The Championships are held once each year at resorts rotating to all parts of the country. A USGFR member is elegible to participate in the annual nationial tournament. Members travel to the venues providing opportunity to see new places, make new friends and play golf in conditions of varied terrain and design on some of the most outstanding courses in the country.
USGFR stages one of the few 54 hole events available to golfers of all abilities. Competition is divided into three divisions of approximately equal sizes. Normally the ranges of handicap in those divisions are between 0-12, or a little higher, 13 or so to 18, and above 18.
Prizes based upon net Stableford scoring are awarded to the United States Champion of Rotary Golf, the low gross player in division 1 (the lowest handicap division) and to the four net players performing best in the three divisions.
Team competition extends the opportunity to play golf with participants of diverse ability. The Stableford method of scoring will allow all members a fair opportunity to compete for the National Championship.
Competition is made available for Rotarians who desire to play only 36 holes or who are unable to play three consecutive days. Competition is made available for the spouses and guests of members of USGFR.
The tournament concludes with a gala awards banquet on the final night.
Fellowship is the key to the success of every national tournament. A participant will make new friends and obtain lasting memories.
Each member of USGFR will receive the directory of members. The directory will list the names, addresses, contact information and golf clubs of the members. The directory will be a valuable source of information for members to use when traveling. Members may be able to obtain access to great golf courses throughout the land that they might not otherwise play.
