Dear Friends,
We invite you to join us for the fun filled 2010 USGFR Venue at beautiful Lake Tahoe and the historic Carson Valley region.

There are shuttle buses available to Lake Tahoe when you arrive at the Reno/Tahoe airport. You must make reservations online sixty days before your airport arrival at the following web site www.southtahoeexpress.com .Your reservation is very important because schedules change every few months with the seasons. When you get online you are able to check your arrival time to their schedule and get the costs. Total driving time is one and one half to two hours.

The mornings and evenings here are cool. Pack a fleece or jacket for morning golf and evening activities. For touring, comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes are a must. We are casual and golf appropriate dress, except for the banquet, which is semi-formal. The weather could be 70-80 degrees or snowing!!!

USGFR 2010 Venue Bus Tours

Wed. Sept.22 ****** VIRGINIA CITY
Leaving Embassy Suites we will drive down Kingsbury Grade into Genoa (supposedly the first settlement in NV) past the Genoa golf courses and along the Pony Express Trail through Carson City and on to Virginia City. We will learn the history of the area, have a few hours to shop and check out the saloons and colorful natives. Maybe experience a few gunfights if the natives are restless!! This is the only tour with lunch on your own. There are many saloons in which to eat, sometimes we shop and just hit the ice cream parlor or wonderful candy shop. Whatever rings your bell!!

Thurs. Sept.23****** AROUND LAKE TAHOE
The decision was to drive around Lake Tahoe instead of boating, because at this time of year the weather could be nasty and the water rough resulting in last minute cancellations. Seeing the lake on the bus from above is quite lovely and much more comfortable. We will have lunch at GAR WOODS on the WATER. Then on to the famous THUNDERBIRD LODGE where we will learn it’s history and enjoy another lovely view of Lake Tahoe.

Fri. Sept.24 ***** CARSON VALLEY
Leaving Lake Tahoe we will drive down into the Valley below to the towns of Gardnerville and Minden, home to our Rotary Club and where many of us reside. We will visit a few little boutiques, galleries and antique shops. We will then enjoy a wine tasting and light lunch at the delightful Tahoe Ridge Winery and Bistro in Minden. A great fun time to enjoy our “far-away” friends.

If you plan to take these tours, they must be paid in advance with your registration because we are obligated to pay in advance also.
The Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley region is known for recreation such as skiing, boating, hiking, biking, parasailing, golfing, etc. Of course it is a gamblers paradise. Whatever charms you. If you could stay over the weekend there are 300-400 exhibitors in Genoa on Saturday and Sunday. This is called the CANDY DANCE.

It began over 80 years ago with only a dance. The streets are closed and fun filled with juried artists, many exhibitors and lots of great food.
